VIRGINIA BEACHHRSD Information Technology professionals and cybersecurity consultants continue working to safely restore business systems affected by a November 17 ransomware attack. As a result, HRSD and HRUBS billing remains suspended for all customers and account balances have not been updated. The HRSD phone and computer systems remain offline and inaccessible.

HRSD, your regional wastewater utility, is undertaking a project to replace existing sanitary sewer piping and valves that are nearing the end of their useful service life. The new sanitary sewer piping will accommodate sewage flows from HRSD’s new Willard Avenue Pump Station and will allow for future Hampton University development. This project will provide updated infrastructure that will help ensure HRSD’s ability to protect public health and the environment for decades to come.

Projected Cost: $14,800,000

--Canal Drive Closure & Detour--

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, is working on a project to install a sanitary sewer pipeline along Canal Drive between the intersections of Norfolk Southern Railroad and South Military Highway. While excavating in Canal Drive near the Norfolk Southern Railroad, a temporary road closure is needed, and a detour will be put in place to allow local traffic to pass around.

VIRGINIA BEACHHRSD learned late Tuesday evening that some of its systems suffered a ransomware attack. Response efforts were immediately initiated to contain the attack, including the shut-down of some business information systems. These include HRSD business email accounts, HRSD Customer Call Center, Customer Self-Service, iSupplier and iRecruitment web functionality.

HRSD, your regional wastewater treatment utility, invites you to view a virtual presentation to learn more about the Willard Avenue Pump Station & Sewer Replacement project. HRSD is undertaking a project to replace the existing Willard Avenue Pump Station located at 219 National Avenue and the associated gravity sewer lines. The new pump station, located at the corner of S. Willard Avenue and Downes Street, will resolve capacity, operational, and maintenance issues that currently affect the existing pump station as it nears the end of its useful life.
